Apple Pay now available in Finland, Sweden, Denmark and the United Arab Emirates

When it seemed that the expansion of Apple Pay had suffered a pattern, overnight we found ourselves like Apple's wireless payments technology has just landed in four games countries: Finland, Sweden, Denmark and United Arab Emirates. Its arrival in these countries is not a surprise, since it had been previously announced but without suggesting an approximate launch date, except in the case of Sweden, where its launch was scheduled for October 24. The launch of Apple Pay to the rest of the countries was announced last August but since then we had not heard from it again.

In UAE, Apple Pay supported banks are Emirates Islamic, Emirates NBD, HSBC, Masreq, RAKBANK, and Standard Chatered Bank. In Denmark, users of the Jyske Band and Nordea banks who have a VISA will be able to add their cards to Wallet to be able to make payments through Apple Pay. In both Finland and Sweden, the banks that offer this service are Nordea and ST1, although soon Edenred and N26 will also do so, the latter It will also offer compatibility with Apple Pay in Spain at the end of the year.

Today Apple Pay is available in 20 countries, where we only find Spain as a Spanish-speaking country. It seems that at the moment expansion in Spanish-speaking countries is not a priority for Apple, despite the fact that, for example, Mexico has already had an official Apple Store for just over a year. To be able to use Apple Pay, it is necessary to have an iPhone 6 or higher, an Apple Watch or an iPad Air 2 onwards and add the compatible credit cards to Wallet, where we will have to select the card that we want to use at the time to pay for our purchases.

    Hi Ignacio,

In Sweden, the competition between ApplePay and Swish, a mobile payment system that is originally from that country, will be interesting.

    Thank you.

    A greeting.
