Apple Pay about to land in Sweden

We have not talked about the expansion plans of Apple Pay around the world for a few months, but in the last two days, it seems that the movements of this Apple payment technology are showing signs of life again. Yesterday I informed you about the expansion plans of Apple Pay in India, as stated by Eddy Cue on his last trip to the country.

Today it is the turn of Sweden, a country where, according to the website Mac Pro, Apple Pay will land next week from the hand of a single Nordea bank, in a movement that points to exclusivity as happened with Apple Pay in Spain, since during its first year, only Banco Santander has been compatible within the banking sector.

According to this medium, Nordea will be the first bank to offer Apple Pay in the country, and it will do so from October 24. At the moment the publication has not been able to offer more information about it. Nordea is one of the largest banks in the country, thanks to the acquisition and / or merger with banks from Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norugea. Currently It has a client portfolio of 11 million users.

Despite the fact that Sweden is one of the most advanced countries in the mobile payment sector, it is especially striking that Apple has taken so long to reach an agreement to be able to offer its electronic payment method. According to statistics from the last year, three out of every four inhabitants of the country make daily use of mobile payment systems. Currently in Sweden, only 20% of transactions are made in cash and more than half of the country's banks do not accept payments or cash deposits at their offices.
