Apple Pay reaches the entire New York subway and bus network

Apple Pay is one of those Apple services that are very worthwhile. Being able to pay via mobile or tablet, even from the Mac on the Internet without having to carry a debit or credit card, is wonderful. It is a service that works very well and that little by little is spreading to more and more countries and places. From now on we can use Apple Pay in the entire New York subway and bus network.

The MTA (Metropolitan Transportation Authority) has announced that the automatic and contactless payment service through Apple Pay, It is now available throughout the subway and bus network in all five boroughs of New York City.

After 18 months of the implementation of Apple pay in some of the metro stations select them, the MTA has completed the deployment of the service in all lines, stations and districts. Although Apple Pay is supported in all stations as a contactless payment method. very useful in a health pandemic. You can only make use of the payment method individually. It is not yet possible to prepay for an equivalent to the unlimited ride MetroCard pass.

You can use OMNY with your own contactless card or smart device. OMNY currently supports a pay-per-ride option for now, including free transfers.

The final plan is power completely replace MetroCard in 2023 by OMNY. So they still have work to do, but the news of being able to use Apple Pay across the entire New York subway and bus network is a breakthrough for users of both platforms.
