Apple Releases 2020 Apple Design Award Winners

Apple just released the list of eight developers who have won this year's prestigious Apple Design Award. The truth is that they have a lot of merit. Being chosen among the millions of developers that the company has, and the thousands of applications that are published in the Apple Store each year, is to be more than happy.

Among the eight winners there is a bit of everything. From powerful development companies, to small independent programmers. And in terms of applications, there is also quite a diversity. Apps for graphic design, sound, games, etc. Let's see them.

The awards that Apple awards each year at the end of its WWDC week have just been known. They are the renowned Apple Design Awards, which include both large programming studios and small independent developers.

One of the award-winning apps is Darkroomby Bergen Co. According to Apple, Darkroom was selected because it "offers great performance with super intuitive controls and a design that both professional and casual photographers can really appreciate." Apple technologies used in the app include Photo and Camera APIs, Home Screen Quick Actions, Contextual Menus, and Haptics.

The developer iorama.studio has been awarded by loom. Looom is "an animation playground inspired by music creation tools." The application, made for iPadOS, uses "Apple Pencil and Dark Mode to the fullest" according to Apple.

Shape 3D

Shapr 3D is one of the award-winning applications.

The CAD design application Shapr3D Zartkoruen Mukodo Reszvenytarsasag is also one of the winners. Currently it is already compatible with Apple Pencil, and later, the application will use the LiDAR scanner of the iPad Pro to automatically generate a 2D floor plan, and the 3D model of a room.

Designed for music composers, StaffPad, from StaffPad Ltd has also been recognized. Apple says the app's use of the Apple Pencil, drag and drop, was instrumental in awarding it the award.

Four games among the awarded apps

Most of the Apple Design Award winning games are available on Apple Arcade. The game titled «Sayonara Wild Hearts»Won an award, featuring cutting-edge Apple technologies including Metal, Game Center, spatial audio, and support for different game controllers.

«Sky: Children of the Light«, Is another of the winning games. The developers at thatgamecompany used a custom metal engine, haptics, Game Center and spatial audio, and for that they have won the award.

«Song of bloom«From indie developer Philipp Stollenmayer has also won an Apple Design Award. While the specific technologies used in development were not listed, Apple claims that the game "offers an innovative, handcrafted gaming experience in great design."
