Apple reaches 100% of operations with renewable energy

The figure kept rising, from 96% exceeded 12 months ago. Today Apple can claim that 100% of its operations are powered by renewable energy. All newly built facilities are being built to take advantage of renewable energyEither from the building itself, such as Apple Park, or with green energy supplied by wind or solar plants.

Not only Apple Park, but also the energy-consuming data centers, to the vast network of retail stores spread across the globe, have green energy as their main supply. To close the loop, some providers are missing.

Apple established specific plans for suppliers to reconvert their industry, with the intention of transforming their production processes for others less dependent on traditional energy sources. Today, there are some suppliers that are not supplied by green energy, but are executing projects to meet Apple's demands.

We know the news from the hand of Lisa Jackson, who gave an interview to Fast Company . According to Jackson, Apple's contribution is double, as it contributes to fewer emissions, but at the same time improves the availability of green energy throughout the planet. Apple's effort is important, which went from having 16% green energy 8 years ago to 100% today. This action has meant reducing CO58 emissions by 2%.

As you might imagine, reaching 100% was not an easy task, since that 4% that was missing, required supplying renewable energy to certain stores in areas with little development of renewable energy. This has led to the closing of energy purchase agreements in countries such as Brazil, India, Israel, Mexico or Turkey.

The question we ask ourselves, those of us who have a nearby Apple Store, is whether this Apple store is supplied from a solar or wind farm. Where Apple cannot source clean energy, participate in projects, even of dimensions much larger than Apple's own establishment, in order to boost such green energy.
