Apple is willing to promote the use of Augmented Reality. All of the company's new devices have long been compatible with AR 3D technology.

Now the company just released free software to simplify the creation of AR-compatible 3D objects.
Apple has just made a free tool called Reality Converter available to all its developers. This software converts and edits 3D objects in USDZ, the file format that Apple uses for augmented reality content. This application is framed within the new plans that the company has to promote the development of AR.
AR (augmented reality) overlays computer-generated 3D objects in the real world. They are like 3D cartoons about real landscapes. Virtual reality, on the other hand, totally replaces the real world in environments where everything is created digitally.
Play with reality with Reality Converter
This new Apple AR tool for macOS allows users to drag and drop common 3D file formats, such as .obj, .gltf and .usd, to transform them into .usdz. You can change the textures, and edit the file's metadata.
Once the edit is finished, Reality Converter can preview the new object under a variety of lighting and ambient conditions with integrated IBL (Image Based Lighting) options.
The first beta version of Reality Converter already available for developers. You need to be a registered Apple developer to access it. Only available for Mac. There is no version for iPad.
This new tool looks something similar to adobe aero, which can combine 3D models with 2D images to create augmented reality experiences.
