Apple acknowledges problems with the App Store algorithm

Apple Store

In response to a series of complaints from some third-party app developers this past weekend about the problems in the App StorePhil Schiller, Apple's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, acknowledged that Apple is aware of the problem and has confirmed that the company is working on a solution. Schiller a few months ago took over responsibility for Apple's content and media from SVP. Then we leave you the tweet where he has given his face on the subject that we expose later, that affected Spain.

According to various reports from users in the United States, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, Spain and many other countries, the algorithm of the App Store did not provide the correct rating for the apps in various categories, so the apps appeared with identical names within some sections such as 'Featured'. Here in this image you can see the problem we are talking about.

Many users are also watching 'junk apps' in your search results. Not all users in the United States were able to replicate the issue, suggesting that this could be a localized problem or that the App Store algorithm has been completely broken. Simply put, this shouldn't happen and Apple is aware of this problem.

In November, Apple was reported to have made major algorithm improvements which ranks apps in the App Store, though those changes focused on returning the most useful results after a keyword search. Apple has not disclosed details about how its algorithm usually orders these categories, however, in general we assume that those that are install frequency, those who have more comments, number of stars, and the sales they play a role in this classification.
