Apple has taken just over a week to release the first update for the operating system of the new Apple TV, and which is numbered 9.0.1. This first small update brings us small operational improvements. The improvements mainly affect the operation of AirPlay with the different positives with which it connects to display content on the big screen in our living room. But the navigation interface has also been improved by fixing some graphical aspects that were overlapping when multitasking too quickly.
The first update of Apple TV, managed by tvOS, occupies 922 MB and can be downloaded via OTA directly from the device settings. The specific build of the first update is code 13T402. Last week Apple released the first beta of iOS 9.1 for the Apple TV as well, so if you're testing some of the betas from the first big tvOS update, you'll have to restore your device in order to update to iOS 9.0.2. A few days ago we talked about how it is now possible to navigate with Safari through Apple TV, thanks to a small application that a developer has posted on GitHub.
This opens the door of the Apple TV to an endless number of applications without having to go through the App Store from Apple since in order to install it on the Apple TV, we previously have to use Xcode to sign it with our Apple ID. Our Apple ID has to be previously registered as a developer, either in the free version or in the paid version that costs $ 100 per year. This new way of installing applications bypassing the App Store is not the same as Jailbreak, since the system is not compromised at any time, only applications not reviewed by Apple are installed.
