According to this newspaper, Apple is looking for new locations in North Carolina and Virginia, like Amazon, to create a new campus, a campus that would have the capacity to house some 20.000 workers, while the current Apple Park capacity is 11.000 workers.
Research Triangle Park, located in North Carolina, is a research park with an area of approximately 2 million square meters and it has become the most attractive area for technology companies.
The land Apple is interested in in Northern Virginia are in Loudon County and Crystal City, the same places that Amazon is also interested in and that they have an area of around 370.000 square meters.North Virginia has an extensive public transportation network, an aspect that Apple always takes into account.
The investment planned for the creation of this new campus amounts to 350.000 million dollars during the next 5 years including a payment of 38.000 million dollars in taxes, money that would come from the currencies that the company has repatriated thanks to the tax exemption created by the Donald Trump administration.
As usual, Apple has not confirmed, nor denied, what its expansion plans in the country. According to this newspaper, Apple will not make the decision until the end of the year.
