Apple seizes the rights to CODA

Add up and go on without stopping. That could be Apple's new catchphrase for its streaming entertainment division. A new production will join the cast of Apple TV +. This time we are talking about the film CODA that has been broadcast at the Sundance virtual film festival. A film whose rights have been acquired by the Californian company after a tough fight with Amazon and having paid a record amount.

The CODA film is the American version-remake of the French film released in 2014. Although with some notable differences, the film broadcast at this year's Sundance festival (which has been made virtually) is about the decisions you must make its protagonist when the time comes. Actress Emilia Jones plays Ruby, a 17-year-old girl in love with music and with a spectacular voice being the only one in her family who is not deaf. CODA stands for the acronym in English for "children of deaf adults." Ruby must decide whether to pursue her dreams or help her family.

Apple has wanted this story to be part of Apple TV + and for this it has not hesitated to acquire its rights after a tough fight with Amazon. In the end the figure has reached a new record of 25 million. Something more than the previous one that was at 22,5 for the movie "Palm springs."

We still do not know when the premiere will be on Apple TV +, the news of its acquisition is very current, in fact the Sundance festival still continues until February 3 and not even Apple has spoken about it news contributed by Deadline. We will have to wait for the official announcement and see if Apple announces a possible release date. We will be pending and we will let you know.
