Most movies and series that reach both Apple TV + and other streaming video services come from an adaptation of a book and / or the imagination of the scriptwriters. The latest agreement reached by Apple to create original content can be found in the publication Deadline.
According to this medium, Apple has acquired the rights to the film adaptation of the Broadway musical Come From Away. This play, which has won a Tony award (The Oscars of the theater), is directed by Christopher Ashley and tells the true story of thousands of passengers trapped in a small Newfoundland town.
Ashley received the Tony Award for the musical direction of Come From Away. In addition, was nominated for best choreography. The play has been written by Tony Olivier award winners Irene Sankoff and David Hein.
Jennifer Todd and Bill Condon produce alongside the original producers of the work, Junkyard Dog Productions, as well as Mark Gordon. Brittany Hapner will serve as co-producer. Laurel Thomson will serve as Executive Producer for eOne.
The Alchemy Production group will be in charge of stage production and general direction. RadicalMedia (Hamilton, David Byrne's American Utopia) will handle the recording.
The production of this new movie will begin this May in New York City and will have more than 200 employees. This film will have the cast of the production of the Broadway play, although it will expand its cast in order to carry out the adaptation.
