They say a picture is worth a thousand words. I may be old-fashioned, but the truth is that I never use emojis or emoticons. It is possible that some do express a specific message, and that it is easier to send a emoji Than typing a »thank you» or «I send you a kiss».

But seeing the new emojis that Apple will launch before the end of the year, I find it difficult to imagine in what context and what the hell you can transmit to your interlocutor by sending the emoji of a dodo...

Today is World Emoji Day, and Apple wanted to celebrate it by showing us the new emojis that will arrive on iPhones, iPads and Macs at the end of this year. Are 13 new somewhat peculiar icons.

This collection of new emojis were approved earlier this year as part of the release Emoji 13.0 by the Unicode Consortium. Apple shows them for the first time today, previewing the new emoji designs that will arrive on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac before the end of the year.

These new emojis are: a Dodo, a Russian Doll, Nesting Dolls, a Piñata, a Tamale, Pricked Fingers, a Boomerang, a Ninja, a Coin, an Anatomical Heart, a Beaver, a Transgender Symbol, a Cold Coffee and some lungs.

There are more emojis that will arrive before the end of the year, but these are the only ones that Apple has shown us today. In total, there will be 117 new emojis coming to Apple devices this year. Apple typically releases the new emoji characters in an update to iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.

This year with iOS 14, it will be even easier than usual to find the new emojis. One of the new features of iOS 14 is the ability to attempting in the emoji character collection. This function has been in macOS for years, and it seems that it is finally installed on iOS as well.
