Apple stops updating the Beats Updater app to update Beats products

Beats Updater

Apple has always been known for being one of the few companies that regularly updates its products, whether they are computers, smartphones, headphones ... adding performance and performance improvements. For Beats products, they are updated through the Beats Updater application, an application that forces us to connect our Beats device to a Mac or PC to update.

However, this app is no longer meaningful, as all products under the Beats umbrella update wirelessly once they are connected to a device. What does this mean? Than the app to update the devices has stopped making sense and Apple has stopped updating it.

According to the support document that Apple recently updated, users of Apple products simply need to connect their devices to an iOS or iPadOS device for are periodically updated. Firmware updates via iPhone and iPad are compatible with:

  • Powerbeats
  • Powerbeats Pro
  • Powerbeats 3 Wireless
  • Powerbeats Solo Pro
  • Beats Solo3
  • Beats Studio 3 Wireless
  • BeatsX

In the same document, Apple states that if any of these headphones are paired with an Android device, we have to download the Beats application for Android directly from the Play Store so that these are updated automatically. That same document confirms that this is the only method to update Beats headphones, and that the Beats Updater app has stopped receiving updates, though is still available for download on the Beats page.

The Beats Updater application requires macOS 10.14 in its version for Mac and Windows 10, version 1607 in the version for Windows. This application allows us to download the latest version of the firmware, add a name to the device, obtain product information ... practically the same functions that we can perform directly from our device managed by iOS or iPadOS.
