Apple Watch fall detection could send medical information too

Fall detection on Apple Watch

One of the novelties that was introduced a couple of years ago in the Apple Watch was its ability to detect user drops and start a protocol to help you. What Apple wants to add is more information that can be provided in that call that is done to the emergency services. In this way, the health personnel who come to the place will have more complete information about the patient.

Basically what the watch does is launch an alert when it detects a fall. If the user does not stop it, the sequence of calls to the emergency services begins where information is provided to them about what happened and the person's location. Subsequently, the persons designated as emergency contact are called to notify them as well.

Apple wants that first call to the healthcare staff to contain more information in order to be able to equip the toilets a broader view of the patient who awaits them. That way they can better prepare for medical care. This information could contain statistical data, medical history of the person, heart rate, height, weight ... etc;

The message sent to the toilets could be repeated up to a maximum of three times with heart rate update. Recall that with iOS 13.6 a new label called "symptoms" has been added to the iPhone in which we can write down or download a series of conditions that occur to us throughout our lives. This data could be taken into account by the watch in the case of the fall detection we are talking about.

We are talking about an idea only, that has not yet materialized and it seems that if it does, it will not be anytime soon. It is certainly not a crazy idea. Anything that makes it easier for health workers to do their work, welcome.
