Apple will collaborate more intensively with Consumer Reports, having excluded the new MacBook Pros from its recommendations

A few days ago we woke up with news that had touched Apple. Consumer Reports had decided not to include the new MacBook Pros with and without Touch Bar outside of their recommendations, recommendations that are followed by many millions of users throughout the United States and that can seriously affect the sales of these new models throughout the country. Consumer Reports allegedly claims that the different measurements it has taken on battery life provide very disparate results, forcing them to make this decision. Phil Schiller has quickly had to come to the fore to try to calm the waters a bit before public opinion.

Phil Schiller, Apple's vice president of product marketing, and one of the top MacBook Pro makers tweeted that he claimed that They were working with Consumer Reports to see why Apple's test results do not agree with those of this body.

The hours of use of laptop batteries, not only those of Apple, are usually based on normal use of the computer visiting web pages, writing a document, downloading music ... and where photo and video editing is not contemplated, hence the battery life can sometimes easily exceed 10 hours, but if we start to force the processor to work for real, these hours drop considerably.

What data did Consumer Reports collect?

  • El 13-inch Macbook Pro without Touch Bar record 19 and a half hours of autonomy in the first test and 4 and a half hours in the second.
  • El 13-inch Macbook Pro with Touch Bar record 16 hours of autonomy, in the first test, 12 hours and 45 minutes in the second and in the third 4 hours and 45 minutes.
  • The 15-inch model with Touch Bar, more of the same, in the first test they offered 18 hours of autonomy while in the second the autonomy was 8 hours.
