Google has decided to integrate its two cloud storage services available for our Mac in a single application. So far, the company maintains two separate applications. On the one hand, the synchronization of files with Google Drive and on the other the photographs with Photos. The company is expected to replace the Google Drive application with a new application at the end of the month. So far we know his name in English:Backup and Sync App, and the main novelty will be the integration of the two cloud services: file and photo synchronization.
In short, it is a new application that expands current possibilities. What Google wants is to go further with the synchronization of files in the cloud. If we want, from now on we can make our backups in the cloud, to be able to access it from any computer. On the other hand, the new application will also include automatic upload of photos that we have in a folder selected by us.
We do not know many details so far, but everything seems to indicate that through a simple and easy interface, we can select the folders that will be part of our backup. Therefore, the difference with the current option that Google Drive provides us, is to be able to check the status of a file 2 months before, or restore it if we have deleted it by mistake. Google wants to migrate to this new system in a phased manner. June 28 has been set as the first date to make changes to accounts.
This may be Google's response to Apple's move regarding the price reduction of the iCloud service in the highest segment, 2 TB, presented at the last WWDC. We will surely see more movements in this regard in these or other cloud service providers in the coming months.
