With ten different exercise modes, Better Ears trains you to hear, touch and read music in a simple and intuitive way. The app offers training, ranging from recognizing what an interval and scale is to reading music.
The app comes with two modes: the one learning and training. There are four levels of difficulty, from beginner to professional. Choose your level and start with an area to learn. For example, choose beginner recognition and scale. Click on a scale and the scale will be played and displayed on the virtual keyboard, written on the score and an explanation of what the scale is and what it means.
When you are sure be able to recognize, reproduce and read the scales, change training mode and press the play button. The scale will play again and you will have to listen and identify what kind of scale it is. If you're wrong, it tells you the correct answer and then moves on to the next question.
The best thing about Better Ears is that gives you statistics and feedback on how well you are doing and whether or not you are improving.
Better Ears has many different virtual soundsSo if you are learning an instrument other than the piano, you can be sure to find something to suit your instrument.
For those who play keyboard / piano, you can connect a MIDI keyboard. It's a great way to practice the scales and get familiar with the instrument.
