Bozoma Saint John, Apple Music Marketing Executive, has been interviewed in the Most Powerful Women in the World Meeting, according to Fortune. The Ghanaian-born executive joined Apple after the purchase of Beats Music by the Cupertino-based company.
Has become one of the members with the greatest voice within the team which forms the Apple Music department. So much so, that already at the beginning of this year, a lunch was auctioned with her reaching a value of $ 10.500.
At the Summit, created by Fortune, Saint John made a personal interview focused on promoting Apple's idea of women's equality, encouraging all of them to have confidence in who they are, and not to worry about who they are or what they are. In that interview, focusing on his personal beliefs and mantras, Bozoma said:
I can't hide. I can't pretend to be white or blonde. I can't be someone I'm not really. So I have to be all that I am. "
Bozoma Saint John spoke of her experience moving to the United States when she was just a child, and how that move helped her to trust little by little more in herself. He says that at first he felt "Like a weed", that people looked at him, that he was always uncomfortable. And that, when he turned 13, he learned to go anywhere not caring what the world thought of her.
Women like Bozoma are the people who today they lead the fight for gender equality, in a largely male-controlled work environment where, despite numerous attempts and continuous improvements, we still have a lot of work ahead of us to achieve the common goal of equality.
