The Mail application for macOS allows you to create a Mail folder, where the emails of those recipients we have indicated as favorites are deposited. Therefore, when we receive an email from these users, it will be marked with a star and we can find it sorted in the VIP Contacts folder.
In this article we show you how assign a special tone, who will sound when we receive an email from a favorite contact, since surely you want to separate it from the rest of the emails and give it the importance you want it to have. For this you will have to enter the Mail preferences and perform the following actions. To get to the notifications, we must open the Mail application, and go to preferences. If you don't know where preferences are, open Mail and go to the top bar and click on the word Mail, which is on the left side. From there, we offer you two forms to immediately recognize received VIP emails.
Notifications only of received VIP messages.
The first consists of receive notifications only of received VIP emails.
- Click on the icon General.
- We go to the option New Message notifications. Click on the drop-down and select VIPs.
Special notice when receiving VIPS emails
Open Mail again if you have not done so yet and go back to preference, as we indicated.
- Now click on the last icon that puts the name: rules.
- Then, on the right, click on add rules.
- Assign a name to the new rule in the description section. For example, you can put: VIP messages received.
- Then we will see what it says, Yes and a dropdown. Leave it in Some of.
- Then, on the next line, open the new drop-down and select Sender is VIP.
- And finally, in the next and last paragraph, we select from the drop-down Play sound in the first, and the sound chosen in the second (here we have a wide list)
- You accept this rule.
- Next, a message appears that tells us if we want apply the rule from now on. Hit Apply.
In this way, the chosen sound will be emitted each time a VIP message arrives.
