Along with macOS High Sierra we received a new video standard, the well-known H265. It is the evolution of H264, which promises to maintain the same quality with less space. If we want to have more and more small and light computers, they cannot have high capacity memories. Reducing space in our memories with APFS and in this case with H265 is an excellent idea. But current videos are in formats other than H265 and if we want to make the most of our space, we must convert them. The application that we will see today, Super265 converts any format to HEVC / H265 codec.
The guys at Metakine have the application available on the Mac App Store. The first promise we receive is to comply with the factor 2 and 3, that is, reduce video size by 2 or 3 times. 2Gb files would occupy up to 0,7 Gb. Think about the extra movies that we can store on an iPhone or iPad.
It all starts inside the app. We have a refined App, capable of converting the video without losing any quality. One downside to converting is that even the latest and most powerful Macs take nearly twice as long to convert to H265 versus the old standard. At least we know that super365 uses all the power of our Mac for your homework.
The interface is very simple, which is appreciated for users with little knowledge. Using it is as simple as drag and drop. Once in the application, just click to convert it. And don't worry about all the information in the original video: both the subtitles and the different languages are perfectly converted to the new format.
