Configure your favorite web pages to your liking thanks to Safari in MacOS High Sierra

Throughout today Apple has released the new Operating System for computers, presented in the past WWDC back in the month of May. Since then, only developers have had access to the betas that Apple has been managing throughout the summer.

Today, September 25, 2017, MacOS High Sierra is already a reality. Many new features have been incorporated into the new OS created by the guys from Cupertino, and applications such as Mail and Safari have undergone substantial changes that will make us enjoy our computer even more, making it more practical and secure.

One of the novelties to highlight thanks to this new OS, it is the versatility offered from now on by its default browser, Safari. Thanks to MacOS High Sierra, Safari is a much more powerful tool than in MacOS Sierra, its predecessor.

One of the most notable novelties, and that we bring to you in Soy De Mac as a tutorial, it is how to configure web pages to our liking and need, in a totally personalized and individual way.

Let's see it directly with an example:

If we enter a web page, and in the navigation bar (where we enter the url we want to access) we click and hold down the control key (ctrl) of our keyboard, a new option appears called "Website Settings". If we click on this option, the following drop-down will appear:

Safari 11 Customize web

Here, we can choose different options that will only apply to this web page, so that we can personalize each of our searches, or most frequently used pages. Really useful.

Among the options to choose from, we find:

  • Use the reader (when available): it will automatically activate the reading mode, when it is possible, so that Safari will ignore annoying advertising, page breaks and distractions. Very practical for newspapers and magazines of interest.
  • Activate content blocker: will remove, to the extent possible, any annoying advertising from a website. This function uses Safari's own content blocker or another if we have some installed (AdBlocker,…).
  • Page zoom: sometimes it is useful when the size of a page is not correct, or if we suffer from a vision problem.
  • Autoplay: When we enter a website with video content (Youtube, Vimeo, Facebook, ...), this function is used to configure whether we want the video to play automatically or not, with sound or in silence, ...
  • Camera: Depending on the website we access, it may or may not require us to activate the cam on our computer. This function allows you to have the desired settings already configured without having to be asked by the page itself.
  • Microphone: The same as the camera, if on any page we want to use the microphone we can configure it the 1st time so that it does not ask us every time we access it.
  • Location: Idem but this time, for something more delicate and that consumes a lot of battery in the background, the location.

While these changes do not amount to great effort for the user, Yes, it allows us to have an additional level of configuration on the daily activities carried out in our tool. Without a doubt, a minimal changes that in a simple way allow us to customize our computer much more.

As you can see, Safari brings us many very interesting news, and that will greatly facilitate our day to day in front of the computer. So if you were still not sure whether or not to update to this new OS, from Soy De Mac We invite you to do so. Security, stability and speed improvements that will make your Mac as efficient as the first day.

These and many other novelties that we will find in the company's new Operating System, which continues to push hard for its Pro computers as well as its iMacs, will be revealed little by little on this portal. Further, If you want you can take a look at the news that MacOS High Sierra brings us from the Apple's own page.
