Bar codes are a code that through a reader interprets a set of parallel lines of different thickness and spacing that contains information. Barcodes have been used for many years and is the fastest and cheapest method to be able to manage a large number of items.
The creation of a barcode is based on a series of specifications that we previously have to establish together with the standard that we want or should use. There are many applications to create barcodes on the market, however, depending on our needs, not all of them can be equally valid.
One of the most complete applications to create barcodes from our Mac is called Barcode Maker, an application that is not exactly cheap (16,99 euros) but it allows us use all the standards currently available on the market: BAR 39/3 of 9, BAR 39 EXT, INTERLEAVED 25, CODE 11 / USD-8, CODABAR, MSI, UPC-A, IND-25, MAT-25, CODE 93, EAN-13 / JAN-13, EAN -8, UPC-E, CODE 128, CODE 93 EXT, POSTNET, EAN-128 and ISBN-13 / Bookland.
One we have entered the data that we want to see reflected in the barcode and we generate it, we can copy and paste it later in any application where we need to use it. We can also store the barcode that we have created as an image in different formats, sizes, being the maximum 7500 × 5000 at 600 dpi resolution.
In addition, it also allows us to save the file in Eps format for edit later in vector design applications or in PDF format and the possibility of printing the barcode in bulk and repeatedly on labels or label paper to stick it to the product. Barcode Maker allows us to modify the size of the font, the number of lines of additional text if we want to enter next to the barcode.
Barcode Maker requires OS X 10.10 or later and a 64-bit processor, is available in English and is priced at 16,99 euros. If your needs do not go through an application that is compatible with so many standards, in the Mac App Store you have cheaper and even free applications at your disposal.
