Apple has launched its plan renew iPhone in France, Italy and Spain, a "decaffeinated" version of the annual iPhone renewal program launched in the United States that has left us completely disappointed.
A very unattractive renovation plan
Once again, the Cupertino-based company shows that Europe, and specifically Spain, is not a priority market that it should "pamper", perhaps because we do not have billions of inhabitants like China or India, perhaps, simply, because he doesn't want to.
After a few months operating in the United States, Apple has exported its "iPhone renewal plan" to France, Italy and Spain, however, any similarity between the European version and the US version is pure science fiction.
In reality, it is not a new plan, no matter how much makeup you want, because the only novelty with respect to the existing program so far is that Apple will also buy your old iPhone when you want to pay for your new device in installments, something you can do at any time through the finance company you usually work with.
In the United States, when buying a new iPhone, you have the option of paying a fairly affordable monthly fee that also includes Apple Care and that allows you to renew your device every year for the new model that has hit the market, just like that.
When this system was unveiled in the US, obviously all users have wanted its export to our respective countries, however, Apple has decided that we are not deserving of something like that.
And then we have what Apple pays for an "old" iPhone, ridiculous amounts, especially when compared to what you can get by selling your device to an individual.
Let's look at an example. Let's suppose that you want to acquire through this Plan Renew a iPhone SE 16GB whose price in Spain is € 489,00 and you have an iPhone 5S in good condition. Apple will discount € 128,00 (yes, don't panic), so your new iPhone would stay at € 361,00 which, financed for 24 months, would result in a fee of € 15,98 per month.
This financing is carried out through Banco Cetelem, so you must consider that you will be paying an annual interest that is around 6% of the financed amount, that is, in this case we are talking about, you would end up paying around 23 euros of interest for above the price of your iPhone, so what you saved at the beginning, which was already little, will be less. The payment of interest, except for special campaigns, is common to purchase in installments, however we mention it to be able to observe a specific case in its entirety.

To conclude, personally, I feel that Apple, on certain occasions (Black Friday, News, Apple Pay, Plan Renove ...) treats us as a second-rate country, and here is the proof. In Spain, the company is not exactly the market leader, but obviously it is not going to do it this way. I would have been among the first to take advantage of an iPhone renewal plan similar to the American one, however, I would never access this decaffeinated European version.
