Dolby Altmos technology will be available in the Apple TV app of LG televisions

LG

A few days ago, the Korean manufacturer LG announced that it was launching the Apple TV app for all TV models it launched in 2018 and those it plans to market throughout 2019, thus following in the footsteps of Samsung, Sony and Vizio, the three manufacturers that they bet on Apple's streaming services.

But it is not the only novelty related to this manufacturer that LG users may be interested in, since a few hours ago it announced that it will also offer support for Dolby Atmos, that is, in selected models that it has launched on the market since 2018. Support for Dolby Atmos will launch at the end of the year.

In the statements made by an LG spokesperson to the FlatpanelsHD medium, neither a specific date is specified nor if the support will be available on all models with the Apple TV application and with AirPlay 2 functionality, but everything seems to indicate that no, since the "selected models" probably stick to the more expensive models.

Dolby Atmos is compatible with Apple TV, but not with Samsung TVs and not with Roku and Fire TV set-top boxes although both also offer us the Apple TV application. LG this week became the first TV maker to offer Dolby Vision (HDR) support from the Apple TV app, thankfully it won't be the only one.

Presumably both Samsung and Sony and Vizio will offer the same support for both Dolby Atmos and HDR in future updates. If you intend to renew your old television, in my particular case I would bet on SamsungIf you do not want to have parts problems in case your television stops working, as it happened to me with a television that I bought from LG and after two years there were no more parts to fix it.
