How to enable or disable the location icon on your Mac

location-1

One of the functions that we have available in OS X and that is related to our location at all times is to activate or deactivate the notice of it. With this little tutorial we are going to see how enable or disable the icon in the menu bar of the arrow that marks the location and even the apps that can make use of our location.

With this arrow that appears in the menu bar, we will be aware at all times of the apps that use our location. Not long ago my partner Jesus published an app called locator that modifies the Mac's wallpaper according to the location in which we are, since being able to activate or deactivate the location is just as simple as activating or deactivating the arrow in the menu bar.

First of all what we have to do is open the lock of the System Preferences and for this it is so simple how to press the apple menu  > System Preferences> Security and Privacy. once we are inside we are going to unlock the padlock to edit to our liking and this is done by clicking on the padlock and unlocking with the password of our user.

System preferences

Now click on the tab Privacy and we can manage the content of the location and even activate or deactivate it in the applications. To activate or deactivate the arrow that indicates that the location is being used we have to click on the button Details and activate or deactivate with the check the option: Show the location icon in the menu bar when system services request your location.

And since we are we can activate or deactivate at our whim the applications that they have active or use our location on the Mac. To do this we only have to select or unmark the check that appears on the left side of the application.
