Enhance Final Cut Pro X collaborative work with the Final Cut Library Opener

Final Cut Pro X is Apple's professional video editing tool. It is an excellent video application, even more so with the improvements incorporated from version 10.3 and chosen even by film directors for editing their films. In the same way as other Apple applications, all the information in a project is kept in libraries. This has a positive part, such as being able to move that project from one Mac to another or work from external drives. But on the contrary, it prevents you from working collaboratively or in a team. On the other hand, with Final Cut Library Opener we can partly solve this setback.

Well, the Arctic Whiteness application allows us to move forward in this regard. For now, it is not possible at the moment to work with a library collaboratively and have the changes applied in real time. On the other hand, Final Cut Library Opener shows us the available libraries (for example on a network drive). If we want to obtain a resource or continue the work of a colleague, the application will make a copy of the library.

We can copy the library, even if a user is working at the time, without interfering with their work. Another problem that can arise is how to distinguish the original library from the copy. The developer has thought of everything and the symbol of the file is different from the original. If the original symbol from the FCP X libraries is a square made up of 4 sub-squares, the copy keeps the same color, but in the shape of a butterfly. When you finish the job, the created file will be deleted.

The only requirement for this tool to work properly is to configure your libraries by storing the original media and caches in different locations. In this way, you do not change settings that the user or previous users have made.

You can Download the application from the developer page. Too a demo version is available, which allows you to test some of its functions. The price of the application is € 19,90, but it is with a 50% discount until September 22, 2017.
