Files in GIF format have become the most common way to express our feelings, leaving aside the tiresome emoticons, although there are still many people who resist abandoning them completely. On the Internet we can find various web pages with a large number of files in this format that offer us a large number of GIFs of practically any subject and new ones appear every day. Surely on some occasion you have found a GIF from which you would like to extract a particular image. In the Mac App Store we can find several applications that allow us to do it, all of them paid, but it is not necessary to resort to it, since with the Preview application we can also do it.
Extract images from GIF files with Preview
First, we must double-click on the GIF file in question so that Preview automatically opens the file in GIF format. Preview does not play animations in this format, therefore all the images that make up the animation will be displayed.
Then we just have to place ourselves on the image or images that we want to extract and drag them to the desktop of our Mac. Images are automatically extracted in TIFF format, a format that we can later convert to others such as JPG that will take up less space.
The images that are extracted from the file in GIF format will offer us the same resolution as the original GIF file, which can become a problem if we really want to use a specific image. To solve this problem, we can do a reverse search on Google to find a larger image that matches the resolution we are looking for.
