Facebook launches the Workplace app for Mac in beta version

Facebook Workplace desktop version

Facebook has been wanting to compete directly with the Slack service. This service allows you to create work groups, in which you can create conversation channels —chats— and where you can attach material such as screenshots, documents, and even have spoken conversations.

Facebook's response to Slack is called Workplace. Until now, this service was only available through the web, but Zuckerberg's company has decided to go for a desktop version. At the moment it is available in beta version and includes the two predominant operating systems on the market, Mac and Windows.

With this move, Facebook ensures that its users work in a much more comfortable way. That is, the app discovered by the portal TechCrunch, allows the user to access the work chat and to share material (documents, images, etc.), as well as to share their screen. In addition, in the latter sense you can share either the entire screen or just one application. The clearest example would be passing a PowerPoint presentation. And it is that in this way we would avoid sharing, yes or yes, some private conversation - or sensitive material - that is also on the screen.

Also, as we have already mentioned, this Facebook Workplace desktop application is in beta phase. According to one of the company representatives, they are collecting all the feedback what are current customers sending of the service to be able to apply it in future improvements.

But what is really striking about all this is that the future of all this movement could lead to have a Messenger desktop app, one of the most widely used services of the great social network. In addition, having already different services that base their communication on Messenger (the last one is Marketplace), it would be a relief for people who have a great professional activity through Facebook.
