Facebook Messenger for Mac starts rolling out in Europe

Facebook Messenger

In France you can already download the Facebook Messenger application for macOS. Waiting for WhatsApp to make its long-awaited total renewal and to begin once and for all to be a multiplatform application, those of us who usually chat from the Mac use Telegram.

Soon we will also have the option of using Facebook Messenger for Mac. At the moment it can be downloaded in France and it is fully operational. Gerard Piqué could give his friend Zuckerberg a touch so that we are the next to use it.

The wait has been very long but finally it seems that Facebook Messenger for macOS is already a reality. At least in France, it is already something. In April of last year Facebook officially announced that it was developing a native Messenger application for Mac. He said it would be available before the end of 2019. We are in March 2020 and it has not yet been fully implemented.

MacGeneration has published today that at least in France it is already operational. It seems that the company has chosen the Gallic country to do the last test before launching it worldwide. Hopefully it works as planned and will soon be implemented in our country.

As a curiosity, Facebook has not used Catalyst to develop the application. It is programmed with Electron, and thus it is compatible from macOS 10.10, and not only with Catalina. It seems to be based on the iOS program code.

Use the same features as the mobile app, with notifications built into the macOS system and support for dark mode. It is an application very similar to the latest version of Facebook Messenger for iOS, adapted to macOS.

It is not yet known when it will be implemented globally, but at least, it is already operational in France. Everything indicates that it will soon reach the rest of the countries.
