Firefox 79 has malfunctions on some Macs

Firefox

When choosing a browser for our Mac, the option that Apple natively offers us, Safari, is the best solution. Nevertheless not the best browser available on the market, Firefox being an excellent option to consider if you are looking for the same privacy as Safari, but with some additional option.

Like any application, from time to time it crashes or offers erratic performance. Firefox version 79, the latest update currently available and that does not offer important new features in the Mac version, is presenting crash problems to some users.

In Reddit we can find different threads where some users claim that Firefox hangs for several seconds and / or is terribly slow. Some users propose some solutions that have allowed you to regain the original functioning of Firefox:

  • Delete the extensions one by one to check if any of these is the cause of the problem.
  • Clear all browser data, not just the cache.
  • Reinstall Firefox 79
  • Restart the system.
  • Run Firefox in Safe Mode.

Fortunately the problem is not very widespread so it will probably be related to some common extension, since otherwise, if the problem were related to some component of the equipment, it would affect many more users.

Moment there is no official solution by the Mozilla Foundation. If this problem becomes widespread, Mozilla will have to take action and release an update that fixes these problems.

Once calm has returned after the storm that caused the coronavirus in most companies, Firefox update cycle is back at 4 weeks, so we only have to wait 15 days, until August 25, to receive the next update, an update that will surely solve this type of problem on the affected computers.
