Apple just released a firmware update with version number 7.6.4 to fix various errors with the IPv6 protocol and stability in Wi-Fi connections for iOS devices.
This update is available for all Airport 802.11n base stations Apple Wi-Fi, such as AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme, and Time Capsule.
The fixes included in this update are:
- Resolves an issue that may cause the Time Capsule database to report that the backup disk is in use.
- Resolves an issue that can cause IPv6 tunneling to fail
- Resolves an issue that can cause intermittent loss of Wi-Fi connectivity with iOS devices
Note that this update is fully valid for all Airport base versions with 802.11n compatibility. To apply the update we will only have to open the Airport utility in Applications> Utilities and we should see a red circle marking an updateJust by hovering over it and clicking on update, the update process will begin to later restart the Airport or Time Capsule once the update process has finished.
In the time that this update has been installed in my Airport bases, I have noticed an improvement in the Wi-Fi signal range, not very remarkable but it is noticeable that small increase in signal power.
