This weekend, taking advantage of some free time in the busy schedule, I went to an Apple Store again to see the machine. Yes friends, I speak of to be able to see in front of me the new Apple MacBook which we have read and heard so much about these days.
Without a doubt and to begin with this entry comment that it is a totally personal opinion. Obviously, since it is my own opinion, I may be wrong and not absolutely right, but I am sure that many of those who have seen and touched this new MacBook will think the same as me.
To begin with I'm not going to say that this is a review, far from it, these are first impressions. With one word the experience can be summed up: spectacular. The feeling the new MacBook gave me when I put my hands on it and especially when I picked it up from the table it is indescribable. The first time you hold it in your hands, your vision is blurred by how light it weighs and how thin it is, and you think the MacBook Air is even heavy.
Those from Cupertino have managed with this new Macbook to create that portable machine that many users were waiting for, in the purest iPad style, with a keyboard and most importantly, with OS X. It is about compressing to the maximum the already thin lines of the MacBook Air and this MacBook does it perfectly. The first impression when you are in front surprises for good. The colors of the new MacBook add a plus of eye-catching although it is true that if I have to opt for one, I prefer silver or the new space gray.
The touch of the new trackpad is surprising and it really gives us that feeling of pulsation even though it does not physically move. The keyboard seemed a bit strange to the touch at first because of how little the keys stick out physically speaking and the size of these, in 15 minutes I was already adapted to its different pulsation and shape.
Machine performance 'can't be tested' in a 100% store, but opening several processes and applications at the same time did not seem to suffer in fluidity and responded well to a lot of open applications: Photos, App Store, iMovie, FaceTime and several tabs in Safari. About the USB-C I have little to say that has not been said before, it seems to me a great port, but I find it scarce for my daily tasks taking into account that in my case I need to have several ports of entry for the work.
Conclusions
This is a great machine for those who are out of the office or on the go. The new MacBook is not designed for all those users who work in the office, as there are other more powerful options with greater connectivity, dispensing with the extreme lightness of the new Mac. Despite the fact that it is a machine labeled as not very powerful, the MacBook showed me that it can handle many heavy tasks at the same time and that is that Apple is a specialist in the management and good performance of software thanks to OS X.
Another point that I could not test in the Apple store is that of battery consumption, but seeing all the reviews published on the network it seems that it comes to take the same hours than any of the other Macs and this is something that should be mentioned considering the dimensions and size that this MacBook has.
