In a press release, Apple indicates that the update adds traditional Chinese instruments such as the pipe and the erhu. In addition, 300 loops designed specifically for Chinese music have been added. New instruments are available for both the Mac version and the iOS version of GarageBand.

These new features are automatically activated for users in mainland China and for GarageBand for Mac users outside of China. In the case of iOS, these news they must be activated by users outside of China in the Advanced Settings menu.
