Google Chrome begins offering support for the Touch Bar

From time to time some companies have the habit of embracing the new possibilities offered by the devices that reach the market. Apple is not characterized by one of the companies that quickly updates its applications for the new features that your devices implement, ironic as it may be. Google is another example of large companies that seems to have a hard time seeing the technological advances of the competition with good eyes.

A couple of days ago Google updated the application Gmail for iOS making it compatible with 3D Touch technology, almost a year and a half after its launch. But it seems that that has changed based on the latest movements of the company, movements related this time to macOS and the new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar.

Google has just released a new beta of its next version of Chrome for macOS, adding support for the Touch Bar of the new MacBook Pro models. This beta, which carries the version number 58.0.3020.0, was launched a couple of days ago and is one of the novelties that will arrive in the next Chrome update, whose Expected release date is April 25, according to the Chromium website.

Moment the implementation of this support for the Touch Bar is a bit rudimentary and it is not as impressive and functional as the one we can enjoy in Safari. This beta offers us the possibility of being able to return to the previous page, to the next one, a button to reload the page or stop its loading, a longer button that will move the cursor to the omnibar to perform searches, a button to open a new one tab and finally another to bookmark the website where we are.

Google was not the first company to offer support for the Touch Bar of the new MacBook Pros, but it is being the last. Previously Opera, 1Password, Revel 7, Spotify and Office among others had already included support for this OLED touch screen that replaces the function keys of the MacBook Pro.
