How many times have you formatted your MacBook / MacBook Pro in the last few years?

macos-2

If there is one thing that you have to be clear about, it is that if you buy an Apple computer, there will be few times that you will have to format it because your system begins to work abnormally. In this article I am not going to explain how to format your Mac since in our own blog there are many articles in which we explain them.

What I want with this article is to raise concerns and let those who are thinking of buying a Mac or MacBook know that if you follow a maintenance update and do not usually do "mischief to the operating system", in addition to installing and uninstalling correctly , A Mac may not have to be formatted in more than 4 or 5 years.

If you have not yet reached the world of Mac, I want you to know that the quality and reliability of the Apple computer system means that if you follow the line of updates that the company with the bitten apple is making available to you, you don't have to format the computer "ever".

Formatting a computer means cleaning the entire hard drive and reinstall the system so that the computer behaves like when you first took it out of the box. This action may have to be done if you install applications not validated by Apple in the Mac App Store or uninstall applications without taking into account an uninstaller application that removes all necessary linked files.

Apple has never put aside its operating systems and is always releasing enhancement updates. These updates are not only released from the latest system currently on the market, but are also released previous versions continue to have small updates until they are closed.

On more than one occasion I have told you that I am writing you this a first generation 12-inch MacBook with 512 GB of solid disk and 8 GB of RAM with the Intel Core M processor at 1.2 GHz. It is a very drinkable computer that I have updated correctly and periodically every time Apple has requested it. In addition, I always install and uninstall applications in a very controlled way, I have iCloud Drive activated and therefore the synchronization of the Documents and Desktop folders. The computer is now more than three years old and I can tell you that it goes like the first day. The fluidity with which I work is extreme and one has given me no problem.

So if you are thinking of purchasing a MacBook, I want you to know that if you follow Apple's recommendations with updating your system, a long time will pass until you have to do a format. Have you had an experience like mine?Have you had to format the computer in a short time or on the contrary, you have not done it for more than three years?

I only format maybe once a year, only when there is an OS change. and just because I like to do a clean install, I've never felt like I needed it to regain performance. when I feel that I pay a lot and that it would be better to build a PC. I think about this and other comforts and I don't want to go back to windows.

Only once in 6 years (iMac 21,5 ″ Mid 2011). I think it was on the pass from Mountain Lion to Mavericks (can't quite remember). The update crashed multiple times and had to revert to factory. Then install from USB, but deep down I liked the experience of leaving the Mac fresh as a rose. Since then, it runs smoothly and never crashes.

I never install anything weird and update whenever it touches. I am in High Sierra (the last in the series, from now on it will slowly pass into obsolescent age without being able to move on to Mojave ...)

I have a Macbook pro mid 2012 and I have not had the need for formatting either, updating without problems, I am still very happy with it since I bought it, I only update the RAM afterwards. But I also have a PC built around the same dates and I have not formatted it either, going from Windows 7 to 10 without problems, and it continues to work like silk. So I assume that both systems are mature enough to remain stable and it depends on the quality of the components and the common sense you have when using them, in my case I only use the antivirus that comes in Windows. And as they comment if they install suspicious software, both MacOS or Windows can be affected, regardless of the stability of both environments

MacOS is recognized to be very stable, but formatting is done when necessary as there are different types of users using these computers. In my case, it is necessary to format it every year since I handle different applications for my activities, and especially changing from one version to another is always more advisable to install it from scratch (This is also recommended on iPhone and iPad), even Apple itself suggests it. All equipment with its respective maintenance and care, the duration of system stability will be greater, regardless of the OS you use. I also recognize that Windows 10 is amazing, and above all much more efficient on a Macbook Pro, I work with both on a day-to-day basis and they are the best OS out there in my opinion. It is what I consider on this subject.
