We all know that Apple increasingly allows us to make more changes to the interface of our Mac and one of the changes that have been available in macOS for a long time is that of automatically hide or show the top menu bar.
This is very similar to what we can do with the Dock, that we have an option available to always hide it and that only is shown to us when we move the pointer to the bottom from the screen. Well, with the upper bar we can do the same.
In this case, the adjustment is also made from the System Preferences, but from another menu that is outside the Dock. To do this we simply have to access System Preferences> General and we will find a section that we can mark or unmark that says: «Hide and show the menu bar automatically»
In the upper screenshot you can see the detail of this option. With this, the top bar in which it appears: Finder, File, Edition, Visualization, History, etc., will be hidden and allow the user to have more screen visibility for the rest of the windows or applications that we have open. When we hover over the top, the menu with these options will reappear.
On the other hand, this option has a negative part at least for me and that is that the direct access to the applications that we have in the top bar, the time and others, is also hidden. This goes by taste but I prefer to see all those shortcuts and have them at hand than having to hover and wait for them to appear since some of my applications that offer weather details or similar are updated instantly and it is not necessary to access directly they. In any case, it is an interesting macOS option that we wanted to share with all of you and especially with those who have just arrived on macOS.
