How to Play Videos Automatically in QuickTime

After the parenthesis of last week, where we talked about how to close multiple apps at the same time in iOS, we return with the tutorials on OS X. This week we are going to focus on QuickTime Player.

Surely on more than one occasion you have wondered why QuickTime Player it does not play the videos automatically. When we want to open a video with this application we have to click Play to start playing, something that personally seems absurd to me, if you open a video it is to play it. With today's trick we will force QuickTime to play the videos automatically.

How to Play Videos Automatically in QuickTime

The steps that we indicate below have been previously tested by us. We recommend that you follow the instructions as indicated below for the hack to work properly.

  • First, we open the Port de OS X (you will find it by looking in Spotlight).
  • Once the Port, copy and paste the next code:
defaults write com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX MGPlayMovieOnOpen 1
  • To check if you have done everything right, play a video with QuickTime Player.

How to prevent videos from automatically playing in QuickTime

But what if I want to prevent videos from playing automatically? Very simple, follow the steps that we have indicated before. The only thing that changes is the code you have to copy:

defaults write com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX MGPlayMovieOnOpen 0

We hope you enjoyed the trick this week. We leave you with the following video that shows how to carry out this trick, in case you have any questions or have a problem.

Next Sunday we will return with a new tutorial for OS X. If you can't wait you can take a look at the Tutorials published during the last weeks.
