How to prevent Mail from uploading remote images of emails and thus prevent them from tracking us

If the use we make of our mail is not very intensive, and above all it is not professional at any time, the native Mail application may be an excellent solution for many of the Mac users. Every time we receive an email, about everything if it is not from our relatives, almost in 100% of the cases, these include images.

These images, in most cases, are a tracking system that allows the sender to know if we have opened the mail, although It is not the only method they have to know if we read the emails that they send us regularly, since they also usually include various scripts to know if their emails reach us.

If we want to make it a little more difficult, through Mail we have at our disposal an option that allows us to prevent all images we receive in our email from through a link and that are not included in the email, are loaded when downloading the email. The possibility of preventing the images of the mail servers from loading when reading the emails also allows us to open the emails in a much faster way, especially when our Internet connection is not very fast or we use the rate of data from our mail.

Disable loading of images located on remote servers

  • First of all we must open the application Mail
  • Then we drive up to preferences of Mail, which we can access through the Mail menu located in the upper menu bar.
  • Once the preferences have been opened, we go to the tab Display.
  • In the next step, we must uncheck the box Upload remote content in messages.

From this moment on, all the images included in the emails we receive they will stop loading.
