If we are one of those users who like to try one and the other application, always from the Mac App Store, it is likely that over time our computer will begin to have a large number of applications that we only know for sure are there, making use of our hard drive. When we use the Mac App Store to search, OS X makes use of the cache to save images to be able to load the results pages faster.
But also in this cache we can also find some other application that we began to download and that finally, for whatever reason, was not downloaded. Over time, this cache can become a serious problem on our Mac, hence in this post we are going to show you how we can empty it and gain space on our hard drive, in addition to eliminating unnecessary files and solving problems with some applications when there is no way for them to be downloaded via the Mac App Store.
Clear cache from the Mac App Store
- To begin we must close the Mac App Store and go to the Terminal application where we will write:
- open $ TMPDIR ../ C / com.apple.appstore /
- The com.apple.appstore folder will then open. Now we select all the content of this folder to the trash, although if we want to make a copy we can move all the content to a folder on our desktop.
- Once all the contents of this folder have been deleted or moved, we close the window and open the Mac App Store again. If we had a problem with an application that did not download or there were pages or sections that did not load correctly now everything must go smoothly.
