How to skip the Office home page and go to the editor directly

One of the novelties that Microsoft has been introducing in the latest versions of Office is the happy screen that shows us the different types of files that we can create every time we open Word, Excel or PowerPoint. As a general rule, 90% of the people who open any of these applications know what they want to do in it and they are not going to use any of the different templates that the application offers us and that are undoubtedly appreciated. They are appreciated, but we can also access them once we have opened the document and The only thing that causes the initial window is an annoyance that forces us to make two clicks to be able to open the application in question.

But in addition this window also shows us a history with the latest files that we have created, an option that can be very useful if we do not usually keep an organization of where the documents we create are stored, but which we can also access from the menus of the app. Fortunately we can deactivate this damn screen and in Soy de Mac We are going to show you all the necessary steps to be able to do it.

Disable the Office start screen

  • First of all, we must open the application from which we do not want that damn window to appear, since this option is displayed independently by applications. In my case, we are going to show you the procedure with Microsoft Word 2016
  • Once we click on a blank document, we go to the Word options and click on Preferences.
  • Within Preferences we go to General.
  • Within General we deactivate the box Show gallery of Word documents when opening Word

Once we have deactivated it, we just have to close Word and reopen it to verify that changes have been made successfully and that happy screen has stopped appearing. These steps are the same if we do it with Excel or PowerPoint.
