Yes, you may see the relocated items folder when installing macOS Catalina

  Relocated items

Apple itself explains to us in the same folder that appears or may appear to users that we have updated to macOS Catalina what this folder of relocated items means. Do not give it more importance than it has and this folder appears because some of the files we had in the previous version could not be moved to their new location.

Inside this folder we find those files that are usually from the system itself and that are not used for the new version to which we have updated. In addition "another problem" that users are encountering in this sense is that they do not have permission to access the folders, this is solved pressing cmd + i and then editing the permissions in the lower part of the window but we have already told you that it is not necessary for you to do so ...

Relocated items

Inside the folder there are other folders that can be directly deleted

And it may seem like a problem when we do not know the reason for this folder, but we have already advanced that these files can be removed without problem from our Mac, it will not be a problem for the operation far from it. In any case, if we want, we can leave it there, on the desk, until one day we get tired and delete it.

Relocated items

Configuration files that have basically been modified by the user or by some application and that are now not compatible with the new version of macOS Catalina. In short, we should not give more importance to these files and in case you want to restore any of the settings that appear in these folders, you will have to compare the same folders that we have in macOS Catalina now and combine them, something that really is not worth it in most of the cases. All of this is simply for improve system security.

Let's see. If they were useless, why hasn't Apple removed them directly? With the weird mystery: /

They served in the Mojave version, in Catalina they are not valid but they warn you of it by putting those files in this folder

      Apple things to warn users

    Hello:
I am as old as my post office, and by this I mean not very skilled in these matters, which is why I need "simple" help with my problem.
When I updated Catalina, all my FINDER went to the "relocated" items folder, that is, EVERYTHING ..
    Airdrop
    Downloads
    Videos
    Images
    Documents
    desk
    Applications
    Music
    Recent ……… .ALL !!
so if I want to access any function I must go to the RELOCATED folder, how can I get them to be installed again in the FINDER
    Thanks in advance
    All the best
    Carlos

I have been able to delete almost everything, except a folder called "usr", which inside has a shortcut called "X11" that does not let me delete, it tells me this:

"" X11 "cannot be modified or deleted because it is a required item for macOS.

Can anyone think of how to fix it?

    Thank you.
