In Cupertino they don't want us to repair our MacBook Pro or iMac Pro

At this point, talking about home repairs is something that is far from the reach of most Mac users, but when we talk about taking it to the store for an unauthorized SAT or similar it could be seen as something common among many Apple users . This will now be somewhat more restricted and it is that they have informed the internal technical service of Apple stores that now a software called Apple Service Toolkit 2 to carry out a repair of the new iMac Pro and MacBook Pro with T2 chip, so this software in principle is exclusive to Apple and we can have serious problems from not using it in a repair.

It is not really anything new that Apple does not want you to repair your Mac outside of its own authorized technical service, but this step is really important to know the future of these computers that add the T2 chip, since they will be out of service in the event that someone wants to repair the screen, keyboard or motherboard outside of Apple's official SAT.

Problem or advantage?

Many of us believe that the best thing is to be able to take our equipment to repair to the place that we want, the one that gives us the most confidence or simply the one that has been repairing our "pots" all our lives, but this can be a real problem with the advances that is currently in Apple equipment, and is that we already know errors caused by screen changes of iPhones with fingerprint sensor or without going any further, the incorporation of these T2 chips in Macs that leave out all the technicians who do not have the specific software to repair the equipment.

Taking the Mac to Apple for repair is in all cases an advantage for the user since they know that the repair will be the corresponding one, but obviously if we don't have an Apple Store nearby or the product is out of warranty, the cost of it will rise somewhat more than normal.

Repairing a Mac by ourselves has long been out of reach for most of us. by the way in which the components are welded or glued directly, but now with current equipment it is even more complicated and Apple wants all the money generated from its repairs to stay with the company, something that you may like more or less, but that will be so with the passage of time.
