On Monday afternoon, Apple kicked off WWDC 2016 with the unveiling of its renamed desktop operating system. MacOS Sierra, a software full of novelties whose first beta version is now available for developers. But if you can't handle the release of the first public beta in July, you can now download and install it on your Mac.
Install macOS Sierra even if you are not a developer
Before starting the process, what you should know, even if you already know it, is that MacOS Sierra It is in beta version, that is to say, a preliminary version intended for testing, unofficial and that, therefore, could still contain certain bugs and errors. For this reason, it is advisable that you do not install it on your main Mac, but rather that you install it on a partition, on a secondary Mac or, if all you want is to take a look at it, on an external hard drive. That said, let's get down to business😅.
MacOS Sierra compatible computers
• iMac (late 2009 or later)
• MacBook Air (2010 or later)
• MacBook Pro (2010 or later)
• Mac mini (2010 or later)
• MacBook (2009 or later)
• Mac Pro (2010 or later)
Download and install macOS Sierra DP 1
At the end of the tutorial we will show you on video
so you have no doubt how to do it
- Download macOS Sierra via this link by direct download, or this other, which is a torrent file, so you must use an application such as Torrent or similar.
- Once downloaded, open the file macOS.11.12.Sierra.dmg, it will take several minutes, do not despair.
- When the process is finished, the following image will appear. All you have to do is drag that file into your Mac's applications folder.
- Once copied to the applications folder, you can eject the image macOS.11.12.Sierra.dmg that you have on your desktop.
- Open the Application folder and, on the macOS Sierra installer icon, right-click and press open. Wait for it to do so and if the following image appears, simply press "Open".
- The macOS Sierra installer will then open. Follow the process as usual accepting the terms and conditions, selecting the disk where you want to install it and clicking Next.
The process will last around 30 or 40 minutes but when it is finished, you will already have macOS Sierra Developer Preview 1 installed without being a developer. To enjoy!
NOTE: remember to make a backup before, just in case, since we are facing a beta version that could give bugs and errors and, perhaps, you want to return to OS X El Capitan.
