Intel does not intend to abandon the production of 10nm chips

Intel does not give up, or at least that is what the company wanted to express in a recent tweet in relation to 10nm chips. In the last hours, the web semi-accurate there was published an article stating that the company was considering abandoning 10 nm production due to the high effort that the operation required.

Nothing is further from the truth, the company has reacted with a statement on twitter. The company indicates that not only is it not considering abandoning the project, but that progress is intensifying, consistently delivering higher returns.

SemiAccurate's argument makes some sense, as the company had to have introduced the 10nm chips in 2016 and the current forecast is "sometime in 2019". Meanwhile, the latest processors presented correspond to the Coffee Lake presented this month. On the other hand, Intel has to be working on 100% safe chips that do not cause planning changes, as happened with Specter and Meltdown.

So far, the production of 10 nm chips by Intel has been limited to a specific model: the Core i3-8121U, which is currently only used as standard by a computer on the market. Are being done all kinds of performance tests on Intel processors to give them the stability they need at the time of mass release.

Anyway, Intel is in the center of all eyes with the manufacture of these chips. Some rumors indicate that Bob Swam, CEO would have made the decision to abandon the development of the chips 10 nm. Intel cannot give up on its production, when the 7nm chips of its main competitor are already in many phones. This may be one of the main reasons why Apple carefully considers whether to make the leap to ARM processors, although these changes would force part of the software industry to make the same adjustments.
