Apple is accused, like other Top multinationals such as Google or Yahoo, Tax in countries considered tax havens due to the low tax rate applied to their activities in the place, in exchange for the creation of numerous jobs in the country, an agreement that could be considered a illegal state aid. The Cupertino company operates there with multiple subsidiaries to significantly reduce taxes outside the US, making a profit of up to 2/3 of its revenues in the old continent.
Therefore, the profits generated between 2004 and 2012 by the apple company (a figure that amounts to about $ 64,1 billion) could be subject to a 12.5% tax rate, in contrast to the current 2% that is applied, and in which case the company's debt would be about $ 8 billion in back taxes.
Apple, for its part, insists that it is one of the largest contributors in the world and that pays every penny of taxes that you owe wherever your brand is established, under the current laws of each country.
This decision is already delayed since it was expected to have an agreement in this regard by the end of 2015, but requests from the EU for additional information in this regard prompted the 2016 investigation, delaying the final verdict.
