It will not be necessary to contract Apple Music to enjoy the HomePod, it will allow us to play songs from iTunes, podcasts and Beats stations

And we keep talking about the upcoming HomePod release, a release that for the moment will be limited to the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom, as announced by Apple in the presentation of this device last September at the same event in which the new iPhone models were presented.

It is difficult to understand the HomePod without an Apple Music subscription, since it is designed to enjoy music, but it seems that it will not be a fundamental requirement to be able to use the HomePod, since it will allow us to reproduce the songs that we have previously purchased on iTunes.

But in addition, it will also allow us to enjoy our favorite podcasts in addition to enjoying Beats 1. What we do not know at the moment is if through Siri we will be able to play the songs that we have previously purchased in iTunes, as well as the podcasts to those of us who are subscribed and the Beats 1 station, or although we will have to send the content through our smartphone, something that at first does not make much sense, since it reduces the functionality of the device. Which it will not play all the songs that are part of our library but have not been purchased through iTunes.

This is because the HomePod does not have the HomeSharing function which would allow us to use our library through the HomePod. Beats 1, like the Podcast application, does not require an Apple Music subscription, and it is good news to be able to enjoy the HomePod without having to pay monthly for an Apple Music subscription if we are not interested, even if it is a device designed to enjoy music. Spotify will also be able to use the HomePod making use of the AirPlay function and it will allow us to control the playback of music through voice command.
