This application is not new; it was released about a year ago. However, Kap, which is what it's called, has been updated to version 2.0. Kap is a tool to record the Mac screen in few steps. Plus, it's open source and it won't cost you anything.
Surely, if at any time you have had to record something on the Mac screen, you have had to resort to QuickTime, the free tool that has been included in macOS for years. Its use is easy; anyone can have clips on their screen. However, One of the main limitations of QuickTime is that once you finish recording, it only allows you to export the result to an extension: .MOV. Kap is also easy to use and the best thing is that this limitation of the macOS tool is not present in this utility open source.
Kap will be installed on your Mac and you will always have it available from the toolbar. In addition, it is to launch it and start recording.
