KeyCard locks and unlocks your Mac using your iPhone

KeyCard2

If you work with your Mac in public places, where anyone can access your computer when they are away, it is highly recommended that you use the automatic session lock system. I don't know what bothers me the most, if it crashes every so often or that I went to have a coffee and when I returned it hasn't locked yet, so I usually use the manual lock, which is not perfect either because I forget Most of the time. Today I discovered an application that, for now, seems perfect to me to solve this problem: KeyCard.

KeyCard uses the bluetooth of your iOS device to lock and unlock your Mac, so that when you move away from it, you will only have to take your iPhone with you (which you will surely never forget) and a few seconds after losing the link with your Mac, it will crash. When you come back, linking again will automatically unlock it. The configuration to do this is very simple, you just have to install the application, click on the icon that will appear in the menu bar and click on the gear in the upper right corner. There you can link your device by clicking on "Add a new device", and if your iPhone has Bluetooth active and in visible mode, it will detect it after a few seconds. Do not expect any message to appear on your iPhone, because it only detects it, it does not establish a real link. In this same configuration menu you can add a manual unlock code to be able to unlock it without your iPhone.

When your iPhone is linked this will appear in the main window of the application. When you walk away, it will take a few seconds, and the screen will lock. The moment your iPhone is within reach again, it will automatically unlock, and this is faster than locking. I found it to be a fantastic application, the idea of combining functions between Mac OS X and iOS little by little continues to advance, not only at the software level as in this case, but at the hardware level, as we saw a few days ago with the iPen 2, capable of writing on your iPad and on your Mac. You have it available in the Mac App Store for € 5,99, and according to the developer it is compatible with iOS devices (iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch), it does not talk about other devices.
