Latest updates to Lightroom 6, the version of the photo editor that has a perpetual license

In a few months it will see the light, Lightroom 7, the new version of the Adobe Photo Libraries and Editing program. In a previous article we told you the news that the guys at Adobe had presented to date in relation to their new version, with the number 7 that we will see in the coming months. The first difference we find is having only the subscription payment system. Now it will not be possible to pay an amount and purchase the program forever. Well it is true that. subscription payment allows you to always have the latest version of the system, with the latest news.

But on the contrary, if all developers choose this option, users have to choose where to spend our savings, unless we dedicate ourselves professionally to photography. Today, Lightroom 6 is updated to version 6.13. In this version, the number of cameras is updated that the app supports:

  • Canon EOS M100 (preliminary support)
  • Casio EX-ZR4100
  • Casio EX-ZR5100
  • Fujifilm X-E3
  • Nikon D850
  • Olympus OM-D EM-10 Mark III
  • Samsung Galaxy S8
  • Samsung Galaxy S8 +
  • Sony RX0 (DSC-RX0) (only Adobe Standard profile included)
  • Sony RX10 IV (DSC-RX10M4) (preliminary support)

As well information from more than 30 objective profiles is incorporatedincluding those for the 2017 iPad Pro.

However version 6 will stop updating as of January 1, 2018. Therefore, if we use a camera not supported by the application, it may not read the RAW files. In that case, they will need to be converted to DNG format first. Thereafter, the news will be included in version 7, presented last week as Lightroom Classic CC. This app is bundled with Creative Cloud, at the price of € 11,99 / month.

Adobe has made a mistake for which it has apologized. Initially, version 6 users were allowed to try version 7. Due to a programming error, it replaced version 6 with 7. After the error, users can now try version 7.0.1 without deleting version 6.
