Macs with M1 do not support eGPU

Yesterday's presentation has served for Apple to win back many hearts of many users who were about to throw in the towel with the company. He has once again punched the table and claimed his position at the top of the pyramid. The new Macs with M1s are amazing for their power and battery management capabilities. However, not everything is rosy. Unfortunately this new chip is not compatible with eGPUs.

Users have long turned to these external graphics cards to give Macs a spectacular boost in memory-intensive tasks. EGPUs allow underpowered laptops or desktops to they can have a second life.

Apple laptops suffered from the problem of graphics processing power. On paper, this problem appears to have disappeared, as Apple Silicon gives a very good power in this section. In fact it is stated that with the same cores (8) as the previous generation Intel, they are capable of executing tasks up to 5 times faster.

However, this Apple's own chip based on a ARM architecture they are not compatible with eGPUs. At least that's what they say from TechCrunch who state that it is Apple itself who confirms this point. However it is not clear exactly where the incompatibility begins.

For now, the information that will be obtained are statements based on the presentation that Apple has made yesterday. graphics, performance, battery etc tests are lacking, which will be done by users and specialized companies as soon as the new Mac announced begin to reach their new and lucky owners. That will be about November 17 and we will see what problems exist with the eGPUs.
